Privacy Policy
Twine is a private app for two people in a relationship. This policy explains what Twine stores, why, and how to delete it. Twine has no advertising, no analytics trackers, and never sells or shares your data with anyone other than the service providers listed below.
What we store
- Your profile: the name and emoji you type in. No email address, phone number or password is collected.
- Check-ins: the mood, day, needs, closeness and, if you fill it in, the optional intimacy section, plus any note you write. The last 120 check-ins per person are kept.
- Messages ("nudges") and date ideas you and your partner exchange, including votes and planned dates.
- Notification tokens for your device so your partner's messages can reach your lock screen.
- A random space ID and a secret device key that identify your space and your side of it.
This information is only ever shown to the one other person in your space. There are no accounts visible to other users, no public profiles and no search.
What we do not collect
No location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or usage analytics. Twine does not use cookies for tracking. Your IP address is processed transiently to protect against abuse (rate limiting) and by our hosting provider's standard request logs.
Where it is stored
Data is stored in a database operated by Upstash, hosted through Vercel, in the United States, and encrypted in transit and at rest by those providers. Notification text is delivered via Apple Push Notification service, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, or the Web Push service of your browser. These providers act as processors on our behalf.
How long we keep it
For as long as your space exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete my account. This immediately and permanently removes your check-ins, messages, ideas, notification tokens and profile. When both people have deleted their accounts, the entire space is erased. Unused invite codes expire after 14 days.
Sensitive information
The optional "Tonight" section lets you share how you feel about intimacy with your partner. Filling it in is entirely voluntary. Because of this content, Twine is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
Your rights
You can view everything stored about you inside the app, and delete it yourself at any time. If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, California or another region with data-protection rights, you can also contact us to exercise them.
Children
Twine is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way we will update the date above and note it in the app.
